The Clock Spring, also known as the rotary connector, the airbag hairspring, and the spiral cable, is used to connect the main airbag and the airbag wiring harness, or the switch button of the steering wheel and the wiring harness of the control unit, which is actually a wiring harness.
It is usually installed on the combination switch under the steering wheel of the vehicle or on the sheet metal of the pipe column. It is mainly composed of a flexible flat cable, a housing for relative rotation, a wire harness (conductive lead wire), a connector, a neutral pin, etc. During the left and right rotation of the steering wheel, the normal circuit connection of electrical components such as the driver's front airbag and horn switch is ensured.
Important parameters: minimum number of rotations, internal resistance value of clock spring, rotation noise, maximum current, rotation torque.
Many car manufacturers are desperately pursuing the number of rotatable turns. There is a misunderstanding here. The number of rotatable turns of the clock spring is not as large as possible. It is determined according to the number of turns of the steering wheel. Generally, a margin of about 0.5 turns is enough.
