ABS is the anti-lock braking system, which can be used to prevent the wheels from locking and slipping when braking, to improve the directional stability and steering maneuverability of the car during braking, and to prevent sideslip and drift when the wheels are locked. And give full play to the car's braking performance. As the information providing mechanism of ABS, the wheel Speed Sensor is equivalent to human eyes. Its function is to detect the wheel speed and generate a sinusoidal AC signal proportional to the wheel speed. After shaping and amplification, it is converted into a digital signal and sent to the ECU for controlling the brake pressure regulator.
Commonly used ABS wheel speed sensors can be divided into magnetoelectric wheel speed sensors and Hall wheel speed sensors.
Magnetoelectric sensor composition: According to the structural shape of the magnetic core end, it can be divided into chisel type pole axis and column type pole axis wheel speed sensors.
Working principle: The magnetoelectric wheel speed sensor uses a small AC voltage to transmit each wheel speed information to the ECU. The strength and frequency of this AC voltage are proportional to wheel speed, both increasing with speed.
Advantages: The electromagnetic wheel speed sensor has a simple structure and low cost.
shortcoming:
1. The strength of the voltage signal transmitted by the electromagnetic induction wheel speed sensor to the ABS ECU changes with the change of rotation speed. The signal amplitude generally changes in the range of 1V to 15V. When the vehicle speed is very low, if the voltage signal output by the sensor is lower than 1V, the ECU cannot detect such a weak signal, and the ABS will not work properly.
2. The frequency response of the electromagnetic induction wheel speed sensor is low. When the wheel speed is too high, the frequency response of the sensor cannot keep up and error signals are easily generated.
3. The electromagnetic induction wheel speed sensor has poor anti-electromagnetic wave interference ability, especially when the output signal amplitude is small.
Hall wheel speed sensor composition and working principle:
The ring gear rotates with the wheel, and the convex teeth and tooth gaps continuously pass under the polar axis alternately, causing the core magnetic flux to change and generating an alternating signal voltage in the induction coil. Frequency: f=30~6000Hz, voltage amplitude: U= 1~15V.
advantage:
1. The output voltage signal strength does not change with the change of rotation speed. When the car power supply voltage is 12V, the amplitude of the signal remains unchanged from 11.5V to 12V, even when the vehicle speed is very low.
2. The sensor frequency response is as high as 20kHz. When used in ABS, it is equivalent to the signal frequency detected when the vehicle speed is 1000km/h. Therefore, there will be no problem of the frequency response not being able to keep up at high speeds.
3. The voltage signal output by the Hall wheel speed sensor does not change with the change of speed, and the amplitude is high. Therefore, the Hall wheel speed sensor has strong resistance to electromagnetic wave interference.
