The nitrogen oxide sensor (Nox Sensor) is an important component of the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction Reaction) system for diesel engines above the fourth grade in China. Due to the high temperature and high pressure combustion of heavy-duty truck engines, a reactor with a rare metal coating is added to the exhaust pipe of heavy-duty trucks, and then ammonia (NH3) is added to allow nitrogen oxides and ammonia to react in the reactor, thereby reducing the harmful gases of nitrogen oxides in emissions. Since it is a hazardous substance that undergoes catalytic reactions and the corresponding emission indicators are stipulated by national laws, it is necessary to monitor the catalytic efficiency of the SCR system. Only in this way can we always know whether the emissions of the diesel engine meet the standards, and whether there are any problems with the aftertreatment system and combustion system. The NOx sensor is a component used to monitor catalytic efficiency, which affects the power of the engine and can even monitor its health.
The working conditions of the NOx sensor: When the ignition switch is turned on, the NOx sensor will heat up to 100 ℃. Afterwards, wait for the ECM to send a "Dew Point" temperature signal ("Dew Point" temperature refers to the temperature at which there will be no moisture in the exhaust system that can damage the NOx sensor); At present, the dew point temperature is set to 120 ℃, and the temperature value is measured by referring to the EGP outlet temperature sensor; After receiving the dew point temperature signal from the ECM, the sensor will heat itself to a certain temperature (up to 800 ℃). Note: If the sensor head comes into contact with water at this time, it will cause damage to the sensor; After heating to the working temperature, the sensor begins normal measurement work; The sensor sends nitrogen oxide values to the CAN bus, and the engine ECM monitors the emissions of nitrogen oxides through this information.
